What is a stewardship campaign?
A stewardship campaign is a time when we reflect on how we support the mission and ministry of our church through our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
Why does the church ask for financial commitments?
Commitments help our church plan for the year ahead and continue ministries that serve our congregation and community. Stewardship is also a spiritual practice that connects our hearts and values to the work we share.
Do I have to pledge?
No. Participation is always voluntary. Every gift—large or small—is meaningful and appreciated.
How do I make a commitment?
You can submit a pledge online via the link below or a pledge card found in our sanctuary at any time before June 7th.
What does my giving support?
Your generosity supports worship, music, children and youth programs, pastoral care, outreach partnerships, building operations, and ministries that serve our wider community.
I’m new to the church. Can I still participate?
Absolutely! Stewardship is for everyone who feels connected to our church's and mission.
How do I know what to pledge?
At Hillsboro UCC, we believe giving is deeply personal. We don't set a required amount or percentage because we know everyone's financial situation is unique, and many of you generously support other important causes as well.
If you're wondering where to start, some traditions practice "tithing" (giving 10% of income). We know that's not realistic for everyone. When folks ask us for guidance, we often suggest donors "Strive for 5%" — the same standard we use as a congregation when giving to the wider UCC. But most of all, we encourage proportional giving: contributing what you're genuinely able to, in a way that feels right for your life.

Can I fulfill my pledge over time?
Yes! Stewardship commitments are typically fulfilled throughout the year rather than all at once. Many people choose to give monthly or through recurring online donations using our website, making it easy to support the church in a way that fits their household budget and giving practices.
