New Member Inquirers' Class

Interested in knowing more about the history, mission, and ministry of Hillsboro UCC? Curious about the denomination of the United Church of Christ, how it works, and what it believes? Have questions about what “church membership” really entails? Pastor Adam periodically leads a two-part inquirers’ class to answer these questions and more. Visitors through long-time members are welcome to attend.

Music

Interested in joining a choir? We have both a vocal choir (Covenant Choir) and a bell choir (Celestial Ringers Handbell Choir) that perform in worship from September to June. No experience required! Contact us or join us at a rehearsal.

Small Groups

Small groups are a great way to grrow in faith. Newcomers are always welcome.

Thursday Morning Bible Study - Meets on every Thursday at 10:30 am in-person in classroom 4 and online via Zoom. At Hillsboro UCC, we like to say that we take the Bible seriously—but not always literally. Our Bible study is a space for curious minds, open hearts, and the occasional holy chuckle. Whether you're a seasoned theologian or complete newbie to Bible study, you'll find thoughtful conversation, room for questions, and plenty of grace. Come explore Scripture with us as we wrestle with ancient wisdom, modern life, and what it all means today.

Pub Theology - Pull up a chair, order your favorite drink, and dive into bold conversations at the intersection of faith, culture, and current events. Pub Theology is a space for open-minded dialogue on today’s most pressing — and sometimes controversial — topics. Whether you're a committed believer, a curious skeptic, or somewhere in between, you'll find room at the table for honest questions, diverse perspectives, and spirited theological reflection. No easy answers — just good conversation.

Reflectors' Group - This group meets for an hour of respective, reflective study of life as a modern Christian. Meets on Tuesday nights at 7:15 pm in the Chapel.

Book Group - A monthly book group disussing one or two books at each gathering. Meets on Wednesday at 1:00 pm in the lower level of the Education wing. Contact the church office or check the calendar for the next date and current book. Past books include:

  • Finding Nouf by Zoe Ferraris
  • The Pearl by John Steinbeck
  • Life of Pi by Yann Martel
