Brown Bag Lunch Program

This program is supported through donations of food, and funds from deposited cans and bottles (collected monthly on the 3rd Sunday of every month). Healthy, shelf-stable lunches are prepared for distribution to anyone coming to the church asking for food.

HomePlate

This weekly program meets on Thursday nights to provide a warm meal and ongoing fellowship for homeless and at risk young adults in our community. The youth are provided with a shower and personal hygiene supplies. They receive guidance in accessing community resources for housing, healthcare and education. HomePlate is an independent non-profit but originated through our senior high youth group. Church members continue to support HomePlate through weekly volunteer presence, service on the Board of Directors, and via minimal rental charges to cover a portion of heat and light expenses.

Holiday Meals

The Holidays Meals project is always strongly supported by our church. Throughout November and December, we collect names of families in need of food for a Christmas dinner. In February and March the same process is repeated for an Easter dinner. The families are adopted by congregational families and are provided with the dinner, staples and sometimes gifts for the family.

Backpack School Program

This year we have partnered with two elementary schools in Hillsboro to help provide food for the neediest of our children. The food is sent home in backpacks on Friday afternoons. Children receiving the food depend on free breakfast and lunch subsidies during the school week. This Hillsboro effort is part of a national program which strives to make a difference in the lives of undernourished children.
